My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is Eddie- named after the famous founder of Van Halen. Although my exact breed is unknown, my foster mom thinks I am mostly Australian shepherd with some blue heeler and maybe some husky thrown in (my blue eye and talkative nature hints of husky!). I am a sweet, friendly and loyal pup. I love to snuggle and will sit and stare adoringly at you for hours. I have a moderate energy level. A daily walk and maybe some weekend hikes would be just perfect. I currently live with several doggy foster brothers and sisters and I do just fine with them. But, I would also do fine as an only dog. I have not been around cats in my foster home, so we don't know how I would do. But, I LOVE to chase squirrels, so maybe cats would be a bad idea. I'm a pretty big boy (about 55-60 lb) and am still learning not to jump on people. My size and propensity to jump means that I would probably do best in a home without small/young children. Older (<8 yr), dog savvy kids would be OK. I am crate-trained, house-broken and walk pretty well on a leash. I am neutered and up-to-date on my vaccinations. More about this rescue

Herding Haven is a non-profit (501c3) organization that rescues and rehabilitates dogs with special needs so that they may become more adoptable. The dogs in our rescue come largely from shelters where they have been deemed "unadoptable" to the general public due to physical disabilities, medical problems and/or behavioral issues. Herding Haven provides medical care, physical and behavioral rehabilitation and then works to very hard to find the dogs the perfect forever home.
