Luke was adopted from the Pit Project in St. Petersburg in the spring of 2021, and is roughly 3 years old.
He was born with a congenital defect that caused his pelvis to be rotated and one of his rear legs was protruding from his spine. The shelter paid to have it removed and all subsequent medical costs, we adopted him after he had recovered and was cleared by the performing surgeon.
As he was born truly with only 3 functional legs it does not inhibit his movement whatsoever. He is extremely playful, loves other animals and people.
As a result of his amputation, he suffered some nerve damage and so he does not have feeling in his anus. This has caused him to defecate outside of his control (typically only while he sleeps/runs around). He also can have a slight urine dribble when excited.
For the first year we had him as a regular inside dog, and he would hold both his urine/feces while we were away at work. He definitely has the house trained mentality.
