My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

STEVIE WONDERFUL...NOT STEVIE WONDER!

Stevie is a 4 year old hunk of love! He just graduated from board and train and has acquired major skills. This hunkalicious boy has learned his manners and knows how to listen and be guided by his person.

For that special person that loves the big boys he is waiting for you!!!
He is ready for his forever person to take him home!!!

Stevie weighs in at about 75 lbs. He enjoys making new friends and loves all people. He is calm and gentle with everyone he has met. This gorgeous, affectionate boy will steal your heart with his silly playful frog poses and roll overs for belly rubs. On our first trip to the park he wanted to say hi to all the people passing by.

He walks nice and easy on leash. He was taught in board and train how to listen to his handler and not pull when he passes other dogs. He will need an adopter willing to work with his trainer to learn how to guide him on that.

In board and train Stevie learned how to hang out with other calm dogs and go on pack walks. But Stevie would really prefer to hang out with his people, be the only dog, and lie in a peaceful yard watching the birds and butterflies. He is a people dog.

Stevie is good in the car, and once he’s convinced he can’t come up front, he loves looking out the window, rolling around on his back and taking a nap.
Stevie really enjoys getting a bath. He makes funny faces and keeps his people laughing.

Stevie would do well with a family with some big dog experience, a willingness to do a bit of training and a yard for him to play in. His board and train trainer offers consultation for life to his adopter.
Stevie listens well, wants to please and enjoys learning.

Stevie will make a wonderful family dog who would do fine with older children If you are looking for a silly, gentle dog with a moderate energy level who wants to snuggle up with his person on the couch...Stevie is your guy!!!!

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer, 501c3 non profit animal rescue group working to save animals from high kill Southern California shelters such as the Camarillo shelter. We give abandoned animals a safe permanent home through networking, adoption events and transporting animals to reputable 501c3 rescues. We have a strong focus on the most at risk for death row breeds; pit bulls and chihuahas. We advocate for animal welfare, affordable spay and neuter programs and ending backyard breeding. Through community education we hope to restore the positive image of the American Pit Bull Terrier as the loving family dog it truly is. We depend completely on charitable donations to support our work. Donations are needed to cover pull fees to get animals out of the shelter, temporary boarding fees, transport and vet costs. We support the NO KILL platform and dream of the day when all shelters will be NO KILL.
