My story

Marty is an 8 month old, 29 lb goofball. He has clearly been underfed at some point and spent over a month of his short life in a rural shelter prior to rescue. Even though Marty has seen some hard times he is friendly, well socialized, and sweet as can be! He is doing great in foster care and getting along well with the other dogs in the household. He LOVES to play and sometimes his dog friends get annoyed with him because they get tired before he does but he is doing well with taking cues from the other dogs and learning to respect their personal space. He is working on his leash manners and potty training (with a doggy door) and he loves his foster parents. He would thrive in a home with a fenced yard and active people because he enjoys running and playing a lot. Marty is still really concerned about food and eats as quickly as he can so he is using a slow feeder bowl and eats off by himself so he doesn't need to feel like another dog is going to try to eat his dinner. As he gets used to regular meals we anticipate him adjusting accordingly. Marty is a sweet boy and he will make a great hiking/ walking partner and would be a lot of fun to take to obedience classes. If you are looking for a new friend that will enjoy an active lifestyle, he might just be your guy.

Marty is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

More about this rescue

CPR was formed in 2004 to assist unwanted pups and dogs with finding a new home. We rescue our pups from high kill shelters in TN and MS. Without the dedication of the staff and volunteers of these shelters and without the assistance of CPR, the pups posted on our website would not be rescued.
We also assist families with unwanted litters of pups by placing the pups and spaying their mommy dog to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. When funds are available, we spay/neuter personally owned pets when asked for assistnce.
We rescue and rehome 200+ pups and dogs each month. We accomplish this task with the help of an awesome hard working and dedicated staff and volunteer base. Also helping us to accomplish what seems at times to be a thankless and overwhelming job is our pure and selfless love of dogs! We truly believe that rescue + rehoming = true love. <3
