My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I'm Bob Barker!

If you're looking for an adventurous, loving, playful and loyal companion, I'm your guy! While I'm pretty laid back most of the time, I'm always ready for a walk or long hike, a game of fetch in the yard (I love chasing after my ball and will even bring it back to you!), and playing and wrestling with other dogs. Speaking of other dogs, I can be selective of who I make friends with and I usually need a slow introduction but as long as the other dog is friendly, I make friends fast. My foster family has a Mastiff that I love playing with, especially tug with our rope toys and chasing after each other.

I listen very well, especially when treats or a squeaky toy are involved! I know the basics, like sit, lay down and stay, and can even balance a treat on my nose until you tell me it's ok to have it! I'm kennel trained and will go into the kennel without a fuss but because I'm well behaved when left alone, my foster family rarely has me go in it. At night, I usually sleep on the couch or my bed but I'd way rather cuddle with you!

I can get really excited on my walks and reactive towards other dogs while on leash. I just want to run and meet them! I wear an e-z walk harness on walks now, and my foster mom says it makes it much more pleasant and manageable to walk me. She's also working on my reactivity, but it's something that my forever family will have to work on with me too.

I really like kids but I can get a little too excited around them and a bit over protective. I'd do best in a home with adults only.

I didn't have the best start to life and have spent time in a few homes. It's led me to become insecure and fearful that I may lose having a loving home. I'm fiercely protective of my favourite human and can be unpredictable meeting new people. With controlled meetings and plenty of positive reinforcement, I'm learning that not everyone is trying to hurt me or my human. My forever family will need patience and understanding while I navigate my new life.

Likes: Any kind of playtime, treats, squeaky toys, playing in water and drinking from the hose, car rides, cuddles
Dislikes: Strangers

Special Considerations: I'm prone to crystals in my urine and am on a special vet diet

More about this rescue

Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue Society is a foster home based Animal Rescue located in Edmonton, Alberta. We rescue, rehabilitate and re-home unwanted, abused and neglected animals and find them their forever homes. We are different from other animal rescues in that we will try our best to not only help cats and dogs but any pet animal that has been unwanted, abused or neglected subject to our volunteers, foster homes and donations. This is one of the many reasons iwars needs you!

Infinite Woofs Animal Rescue Society is a no-kill animal rescue organization. We will help out any of the animals we take into care with any medical treatments, procedures and medications they may need. We will only euthanize when it is with a qualified veterinarians advice such as terminal illnesses where the animal is suffering. Every animal that comes into iwars is a member of the family.

We need volunteers to help in all different areas of iwars and with your help we can help to save more animals lives. We here at strive to save one animal at a time and acknowledge that "saving one animal will not change the world but surely for that one animal the world will change forever" - Unknown.
