My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My name is John, and I'm an 8 month old Boston Terrier mix with a shiny black coat and soulful olive green-brown eyes. I have two black freckles on two of my white toes. Some people say I look part American Pit Bull Terrier too, which is fine because I am having a great time with my adoptive pittie pack. I also love my Australian Shepherd friend and the hundreds of small terriers and giant dogs I meet every weekend at Prospect Park in Brooklyn, NY.

I really love to play in the dog run every day and at my temporary foster home where I curl up with a pittie mix named Jane and a cat named CB. I like cats and don't get tense or try to pounce. Kids are fun and I like when teenagers at the church walk me. I'm still a little shy around some guys and this is why...

Jane, my best buddy, found me in a tied up garbage bag on the street in Brooklyn. She kept pulling my foster mom to the bag to sniff it out, and it was a good thing, because I couldn't wait to get out of there! My foster mom took me right home and cleaned me up, took me to the vet to take care of my hurt paws and get dewormer, just in case. She is the best.

Since then I have made so much progress with socializing and overcoming my fear of humans! City Pitties and my foster family take such good care of me. I got all my shots and was neutered (and ready to play that same day!). I am microchipped and have 1 yr of IDTAG.com protection just in case I get lost someday. I have K9 Advantix to ward off pesky fleas and ticks.

My foster mom said I can take all this great stuff with me when I find my pawfect home: a new comfy bed, a wire crate which I don't mind hanging out in, awesome KONGS, high quality food, and some toys. I also have a nice green collar, a Gentle Leader and 6' long tough leash. I'm getting a harness soon, a donation from the nice man who owns http://www.walkyourdogwithlove.com. I have an emergency info kit from the ASPCA too. I'm ready for adventure!

I can jump and I know my name. I also know to sit nice for treats and "down".

I took a hike in New Jersey and my tail couldn't stop wagging when I felt the rocks under my paws and smelled the grass and saw the trees. I put my nose right to to the Canal water and really wanted to swim...maybe you'd like to take me to a doggie beach! I think that would be so much fun.

I will walk right by your side as I do now with my foster mom and anyone else who walks me. I will love you furever if you will give me the chance.

I'd prefer to live in a home with some other critters like a dog or two and/or a cat. People are cool, but I'm definitely a dog's dog! I like women. They make me feel very comfortable.

I have a puppy kind of high pitched bark which I don't use very often. I may have a little separation anxiety, but you can understand why, being thrown away like garbage... When I'm happy I make these funny little grunting sounds. It's okay if you chuckle, because everyone does! Oh, I also snore. Hope you don't mind!

Check out more of my photos at www.flickr.com/photos/citypitties and on FaceBook (Friend CityPitties Brooklyn)! I've been told I'm very handsome, and I don't want to brag...

You can get an application and set up an appointment to meet me by emailing CityPitties@yahoo.com. I am in Brooklyn, NY.
