My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ELLIE WILL BE AT A MEET AND GREET/ADOPTION EVENT AT PETCO IN ROSEVILLE ON SATURDAY FEBRUARY 18 FROM 12 NOON TO 2:00. 2775 North Fairview, Roseville 55113

Ellie is a petite, sweet, lap-lover who appears to be an Australian Kelpie/Shepard cross. DNA testing was done on her much larger brother and he had some Shetland Sheep dog, German Shepherd and Cattle Dog in his mix. Since Ellie and his brother likely had the same mom but different dads, we can make some assumptions, but not too many. At about 6 months, we think Ellie is nearly full grown at a bit over 30#. She is fine boned, but has kind of long legs. She is affectionate, playful, good with other dogs and never met a human she didn't love. She is outgoing but not demanding and is easy to live with. She is not fully house broken yet. She is accustomed to being crated at night and for 4 hours at a stretch during the work day. She is not yet ready to have free run of the house, but she is close. She LOVES chewing on bones.

The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.

Ellie has been vet checked, wormed and had routine vaccinations. She is scheduled to be spayed on February 20. She can go to her adoptive home if her ‘parents’ are willing to take her to her Monday appointment, or take her home after the surgery. The adoption fee is $375 (check or cash). We do place puppies outside the metro area but we do not ship.

IF YOU ARE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD AND EVERYONE IN YOUR HOUSEHOLD IS ON BOARD WITH ADOPTING A PUPPY, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion animal please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption.
