My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ruger had a rough start at life but now that he is with LowCountry Animal Rescue, he is gaining weight , strength and energy. He is learning how to go up and down stairs and how to play with dogs. He loves his marrow bones and eats and drinks as if each meal may be his last. His foster family feels he may be this way for a long time after being starved for months. Amazingly, he shows no signs of resource guarding and is trusting of humans despite what they have done to him.

Ruger loves everyone he meets and has learned sit, down and is working on heel. He discovered boys with basketballs tonight and showed much interest in joining the fun! His foster mom calls him the Velcro Dog because he wants company all the time. Will need a home without cats or other small animals.

WE ONLY ADOPT LOCALLY WITHIN A 2 HOUR RADIUS OF THE TRICOUNTY AREA. ***Exceptions may be made for seniors or hard to place dogs.

If the animal is under the age of 3 years old or has health issues, a vet reference is required which means you must own a pet or have owned a pet in your name.

Adoption fee of $490 covers all vetting including spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, microchip heartworm test and treatment if needed and any other medical that may be required while in rescue.

We only do adoptions on Saturday and not all animals are able to attend so if you would like to see a specific animal please let us know so that we can make arrangements for it to be present at the event. Event locations do vary so please check the homepage to find out where we will be this week. Please do not ask us to reduce adoption fees since all fees help us to cover medical expenses for all of our animals, some of which can be very expensive. Saving lives is not cheap so thank you for your understanding and helping us save as many as possible.

Please email lowcountryanimalrescue@ymail.com for an application.
