My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Roebling is a stunning year-and-a-half old neutered Red Merle mini-Aussie who was surrendered by his owner after he became unravelled living in a New York City apartment.

He immediately settled in to live in the country and is enjoying an hour or two of off-leash walks in forests and farm fields every day. Roebling needs to go to a rural home and get a lot of physical, and mental exercise. This is a country dog, not a town, suburban, or city kind of a guy. He would be a fantastic hiking buddy, and would also do really well in a farm setting; he does not like sidewalks at all and has significant leash reactivity when approaching people - it is being worked on and is improving, but he cannot go to a home where walking on-leash is a daily thing. He is affectionate and sweet and has very soft, plush fur.

Roebling has good recall and we think he will be great off-leash after some additional training. He is fond of chasing balls. He had some nipping issues when he was in New York in close quarters, but no aggression has been seen since he moved to the country. No small kids - this guy has a strong herding instinct, and when he's happy he does drive-by flying nips on the edge of pant legs; he also loves to run very fast with very long sticks whose ends he has no sense of. He will require someone comfortable with training - he is a work in progress as he is still a young dog who grew up in a very stressful environment.

He's great with other dogs (he and our Border Collie are having a grand old time together), and seems like he'll be fine with farm animals also - he herded some pigs spontaneously. No information on cats. He weighs around 35#. He is completely house trained, not destructive, fine being left home alone (there are other dogs in the house) and has excellent manners overall. Seems to have no preference for men or women.

If you live in the country and want a pal, Roebling is one superstar of a dog. It would be preferred that he go to a geographic area where there are plenty of off-leash trails and open areas.

If Roebling sounds like the perfect fit for you, plaease fill out the application.
