Tuna is a great mix of independent character while also happy to please. She loves having her own space to decompress and sleep in her crate but greets with the wiggliest of butts towards humans in the morning or returning home after work. She is happy to wake up early and seize the day, but is also content to do her business, eat, and lounge in a warm cozy spot until it's "Tuna Time" (i.e., walk and/or play time). She loves fetch with a ball and is so good about dropping it at your feet, but try fetch with a stick and she's more likely to turn it into mulch. Nothing, however, beats snowball playtime, she will jump a clean 10 feet in the air and use some serious acrobatic skill to catch a snowball, land & ready for the next one.
Tuna still has her puppy energy, and is learning to throttle her energy throughout the day. She excels with structure and boundaries so she understands expectations. She has a forward play style with other dogs, so close supervision is beneficial for new meetings. She's been observed to be making good progress in respectful interactions with other dogs recently, once she gets to know them.
Tuna is nervous and fearful around new people, but loves being part of a pack. She can be especially leery around tall men, but has been observed to warm up quickly with a calm voice, ample snacks, and understanding. She is also a love-bug towards humans once she warms up, and when things are slow around the house, is happy to hang out as a lap dog.
Tuna is very food-motivated and smart and she would be a great addition to employ as an assistant manager of the land, household, or pack.
