My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am a sweet, sassy, and happy go lucky mini Australian Shepherd who is 1 year and 2 months old and weigh 25lbs.

Since being in my foster home, I have learned to sit, down, paw, leave it, jump over, and I have been started on agility. I have mastered the tunnel, the hoop jump, and the normal jump and have even done all 3 together. I am a little confused about how the weave poles work, but I am slowly getting it. I am still a puppy and learning to stay down when meeting new people and not jump up on them and give kisses. I will require some more training and love to learn so someone who is willing to continue to train with me is preferred.

My favorite pastimes are walking, meeting and greeting new people, exploring new places, and playing. I get along well with my two foster dog siblings and know how to play nice. However, I may require slow introductions as I initially resource-guard food so will need to be fed in my crate if I'm not the only dog in the home. But once I know my friends, I'm fine, and I've had no problems with my furry siblings so far, including cats both inside and outside of the home. I like to get into kitty boxes and sneak snacks, and sometimes I will look through and 'help' you 'fold' your laundry. I have also been around horses, though I am still getting used to them. A home with another dog friend would be nice but I would be okay being the only one as long as my adopters are active and want to train and go on adventures with me. I also am used to having my own fenced yard to run and romp in so I prefer a home that has a completed fenced yard to keep me safe.

I am not a fan of loud noises such as blenders, vacuums, or alarms. I am not afraid of them; I just don't like the noise! For some reason, I think it is super fun to chase and play with brooms and Roombas while you clean, and it will take some work to teach me to leave them alone. I do know the 'leave it' command and do listen well to the command, but there is just something about cleaning tools that just gets to me.

I do get along great with kids however, a home with kids 5 years old and younger, I may jump up on them and it may knock them over so I should be in a home with someone familiar with the breed and training to continue to help me learn to not jump.

I am up to date on my vaccines, spayed, microchipped and on heartworm/flea/tick prevention. A meet and greet with my foster parents is required.
