My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

All AHHS animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations before adoption (if species appropriate).
Application and counseling is required prior to all adoptions.

Individuals interested in adopting a puppy are STRONGLY encouraged to download and read this FREE ebook. Even if you've raised puppies in the past, this is an invaluable resource to help make your new addition successful!

Hello there, my name is Meg.  Short for Margaret.  But that's a mouthful, so let's stick with Meg.  Not to brag or anything, but Margaret (Meg) was the preferred name given to queens and princesses.  I fit right in.  A princess for sure.  A little bit about how I came to be looking for my furever home.  I ended up on a farm owned by some super nice people with my 4 young pups.  I can't quite remember how I got there, I think dropped off in the dead of night.  These kind people took me and my babies in.  They made sure we were warm and fed.  Once my little ones were ready to find a home of their own, they reached out to the Humane Society in Johnson City.  The kids have since found loving homes. Now it is my turn.  I am an all around great gal.  I do well with kids, cats and other dogs.  What more could you ask for?  I would be very happy hanging out on a farm of my own.  Oh, I can't forget to mention, because I know this is important to you humans, I am spayed, microchipped, heartworm and flea treated and current on all vaccines.  Come on!  You know I've peaked your interest.

More about this rescue

Appalachian Highlands Humane Society, former known as The Humane Society of Washington County, was primarily an organization that provided spay and neuter funding for low income families. Spay and neutering is still at the front of our organization but we have also incorporated fostering and adoptions of animals. We are committed to see our community to become a no kill community. Our organization is not funded by local government, we rely only on spay neuter grants and fund raising. To continue to grow, we need donations for our programs and those links are available on our website under giving. We also need volunteers. The volunteer application is also available on our website. Working together we will become a no kill community. Please visit our website, www.ahumanesociety.org for more information.
