Hi new best friend!! My name is Poppas, and I am soooo ready to give you all the snuggles you could ever wish for. Life wasn’t so great before I came to Rocket Dog and I had a lot of physical healing to do, but my foster family says I was “the sweetest patient ever” and now I’m ready for my forever home.
I’m a perfect medium-sized 50lb pittie mix, and while I’m 8 years old in body I’m more like 2 years old in spirit! My fosters say I make them laugh every day – from rolling around belly up when I want extra scritches, leaping onto my dog bed at high speeds to pounce on a toy, hopping like a kangaroo when we run around the yard…I’m kind of the life of the party!
And don’t worry, I also know how to relax. Supervising while you work from home? Works for me. Cuddling up with a good blanket? Sign me up. Snuggling into your lap, upside down, held like a baby while we watch a movie? Yes yes yes!! As long as we get some playtime sprinkled in, I’m not a high maintenance kind of guy. (And I can entertain myself with a good chew toy or bone for a while.)
When I’ve been alone at home, I get to stay in the kitchen with a big comfy dog bed and take naps until my people come back. Because I came from a place where I wasn’t treated so well, I’m not used to needing to “hold it” for a long time and might have accidents if left alone too long. I know I’m supposed to go potty outside, and my fosters say I’m “very predictable”. They are also teaching me things like “sit” and “wait” and say I’m pretty smart – you CAN teach an older dog new tricks!
Other things I love include car rides, going on walks/hikes, and making new friends (human or canine). Are you looking for a “let’s go everywhere” companion? Friendly family dog? Someone to snuggle with as much as possible? I’d love to meet you!
