Brownie is a puppy-mill survivor. He is under-socialized, and is nervous in new situations. Shortly after being rescued he was introduced to Molly, another poodle mix, who is calm, friendly, and confident. Molly quickly adopted Brownie, and they have been inseparable ever since. They are now looking for a home together.
Brownie is approximately 1.5 years old. He will be neutered; will have his full series of Distemper, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; is fecal tested and dewormed; and has been tested for heartworm and lyme disease, and has received flea and tick and heartworm preventatives. He is overweight for previous poor care, but as he is growing more comfortable and becoming more active he is slowly loosing weight. He is otherwise healthy.
Brownie is very sweet, but very shy with new people and in new places. He is also unfamiliar with many basics- how to play with toys, walk on a leash, etc. Molly is a calming example for him- she models good behavior, sets the example of how to do new things, and reassures him that new situations shouldn't be frightening. Brownie follows her lead, and finds her presence comforting.
They will do best in an experienced, adult only home with adopters who understand how to be patient and move slowly with Brownie. A previous veterinary reference is required.
Brownie and Molly will only be adopted within the tri-state area. Potential adopters must state in their email that they have a previous veterinary reference, previous dog experience, and that they want to adopt both Molly and Brownie. Emails that do not include that information will not be answered.
