My story

You've heard of "wearing your heart on your sleeve." Well, Leia has her heart on her side!! Leia is a two-year-old sweetie looking for a soft spot to land. Her world was turned upside down recently when her human suddenly passed away. The family was unable to take in another dog, so they reached out to CPR for help. Leia is currently thriving in a foster home in West TN. Her sister Marley is also in the same foster home and available for adoption as well. Leia gets along well with the foster family's three personal dogs as well as another young adult foster that is in the house. Leia's whole life has been spent in a home with a backyard to play in and a soft bed to sleep on. Leia is a little anxious at first but is very motivated by treats, pets, and kind words. She is working on crate training, but has not been destructive when left alone for a few hours.

Leia is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested negative for heartworms. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. This dog's adoption fee will be reduced by $50 through 3/19 as a part of our St. Pawty's Day promo. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

Why adoption is a great option

Leia~adopted!, a Southbury Australian Shepherd/Shiba Inu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Australian Shepherd/Shiba Inu for sale in Southbury, or seeking a Australian Shepherd/Shiba Inu dog from a breeder in Southbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Southbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Southbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Australian Shepherd/Shiba Inu breeders who help with Australian Shepherd/Shiba Inu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Southbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
