My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pepa deserves a home where she can express affection; where she learns it's safe to sit on a human's lap; where she is the center of attention who gets to hog the bed when she wants.

Sometimes Pepa wants to be affectionate. She wants to sit next you, and she may crawl on your lap - but sometimes she would much rather be on her own because Pepa is also very independent! Pepa stands out for how much of a determined smarty-pants she is. She'll let you know what she prefers, as there's nothing sleepy about this cutie pie. She has enjoyed wandering out onto the back enclosed porch, but she always wants to come back in and to return to her cushioned bed in the kitchen.

Pepa is becoming a lap cat. Pepa is also a fan of bed lounging and likes to lay next to you for a cozy kip. Pepa prefers to be the only pet present and she will benefit from being the only pet in a household. In the evening, after her supper, Pepa likes to spread out and rest on a settee in the dining area. She hangs out there while the house becomes quieter and winded down from the day.

In the morning, Pepa greets her foster parent with purrs, smooches, gentle love bites. Sweet way to start the day. Pepa might keep to herself, but she is always open to a visit, for some petting and some cuddling.

Pepa lived in a trailer park outside of Chicago. She was fed by a resident, but had no home. Pepa likely has had many, many litters of kittens. When we rescued Pepa last spring, she had one remaining kitten from her most recent litter. Pepa was already pregnant with her next litter, and she delivered 6 orange babies last June. This tiny cat was clearly exhausted by the life she’d been forced to live. Having seen all her kittens go off to their forever homes, Pepa is ready for her own home-for-life! Pepa is a quiet, gentle cat. While she gets along just fine with other cats, we think her priority is having a home of her own, with someone to give her the special attention that she’s missed all these years. Pepa peacefully coexists with a small dog in her foster home, as well.

CCR adopts to forever homes in Chicago or the very near suburbs that are within 10 miles of our Chicago foster families. We love our cats and we pledge support for the rest of their lives, which is why our location limits are in place. We appreciate your understanding. If you are outside of these limits, please check petfinder.com, which allows searching by zip code, for cats closer to your home.

At Chicago Cat Rescue, we are dedicated to both the physical and emotional well-being of the cats and kittens in our care. For this reason, unless expressly stated, we do not place cats or kittens in homes where they will be the only cat. Generally, cats love the company of other cats, and can become quite lonely when living alone.

Kittens will only be placed in pairs, or to join another kitten or young cat in your home.

Chicago Cat Rescue is an entirely foster-based organization. Our ability to help more cats in need is dependent on our availability of foster homes. If you think you could provide a loving foster situation for a cat in need, or would like to learn more about our foster program, please email us, info@chicagocatrescue.org. Thank you!
