Hi, my name is Luke, and I am an Australian Shepherd/Rough Collie mix. After a rough outdoor
puppyhood start, my foster mom and dad have put me on the path to a happy and healthy life.
I was born on November 24th, Thanksgiving 2022 along with seven siblings. I am now 14 weeks old, weigh 16.6 lbs. and am current on all my puppy vaccinations. I have a sweet, gentle disposition, heartwarming dark eyes, a black/pink nose, and distinctive black and white markings. My mom says my panda butt is the cutest thing ever! I tend to hop around the yard to show it off!
I am a more cautious than my brother Jaxx, yet am an inquisitive and alert boy who likes to assess things before jumping in. I enjoy human cuddles, staying within sight of my mom and puppy tug of war play with my brother. Luckily, we are fostered together. Even though I'm smaller than my brother Jaxx, I manage the food dish and enjoy all my meals trying to catch up to his size and put some weight on. I also manage his rambunctiousness by taking control of his soft leash we use in the yard. I even “walk” him where I want to go.
I am learning all kinds of new things: my name, sitting for treats, how to handle myself on leash, how to sleep through the night and what the outside grass is really for! I've got more work to do on that issue! And I'm proud to say I've readily adapted to our playpen, first with training pads and now converting to relieve myself outside. I’m pretty good with both open and closed crate time, whether together
with my brother or solo. I like to collect my toys and surround myself with them while in the crate.
I sleep well through the night. I’ve become a big fan of extra treats and sit nicely to accept them. I've enjoyed socializing with my foster mom and eight-year-old female Aussie (Breeze) and lively one year old male,former ASF rescue foster fail (Zed). We play/interact frequently even though they are much bigger and faster than I am. I like to find sticks to chew on, chase balls, find lake rocks and am very curious about all things in the yard. Blowing leaves and flower gardens really attract me. Mom
says I’m very good at recognizing my yard boundaries with coaching.
I would love an energetic canine brother or sister. I am being fostered at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, VA and am looking for my furever
home!
