My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zion, a 1.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog surrendered to Woof Gang Rehab by his previous owners. True to the cattle dog breed standard, Zion is loyal, smart, alert, and wary of strangers. With Zion’s training, the issues he was having leading to his surrender are very well managed. Zion is working on proofing his advanced obedience training, walks very well on leash, and is reliable off leash. Zion is looking for an active home that will continue to implement structure and keep up with his training to keep setting him up for success. He would be an excellent sport dog for anyone interested in getting him into a competition sport and/or other active lifestyle like hiking, running, or camping.

Zion is a happy boy and hasn’t met a person whose face he couldn’t put a smile on. He is extremely eager to please, his engagement with his handler is amazing, and he’s always ready to go, go, go! Zion gets along very well with foster sister Kimber (a lab). Kimber has shown Zion that strangers aren’t always danger and has helped his confidence with new people. All Zion wants is for his family and friends to PET HIM. Zion also does great with other dogs.

Zion is available now, and is currently fostered out of San Diego, CA.

Please follow his foster on IG, @cuddleswithkimber and @woofgangrehab to follow his training journey!

More about this rescue

We are a working breed dog rescue run by professional dog trainers. Trust someone with experience and extensive canine knowledge to match you with your perfect pup! Working breeds have not been breed to be pets. Often times these dogs end up in the shelter because they have not been given a job to do as was intended for their creation. We are here to save dogs who have been subject to this situation and educate dog lovers on how to live with, handle, and train these magnificent creatures!

We find dogs that have been flagged for euthanasia in the Southern California high kill shelters and foster them for 1-2 months. During this time we train these dogs and work on any behavioral issues they may present with as well as completing an advanced obedience program through Shades Of Blu Dog Training. (IG: @shadesofbludogtraining) The dogs are available for adoption after completion of a training program and a careful selection of the right home for the dog.

We also offer comprehensive programs where we will find you your perfect dog based on your preferences and lifestyle, train this dog for you, and then give you the tools you need to maintain a happy life with your new fur baby.

As an adopter through either service we offer comprehensive guidelines and suggestions and provide you with all the information and expertise you will need to continue life with your new family member.

All of our dogs go to their forever homes with training, up to date on shots, spayed/neutered, with an active pet insurance account through nationwide pet insurance, comprehensive veterinary testing to include heartworm testing, fecal testing, and blood work. Additional DNA testing is available upon request.

If you are a disabled female veteran interested in a trained service dog please contact us as we are able to get you in touch with our Service Dog organization.
