My story

Meet Murphy Meatball! He’s about 50 pounds and around 3-4 years old and is both the class clown and Mr. Popular. He loves to cuddle and thinks he’s a lapdog, and while he has a nice settled energy inside he requires at least one daily walk or romp to get his wiggles out. Murphy was surrendered by a couple who could not properly care for him or the other dogs they had chained at their property - he was heartworm positive and has been fully treated for that in our care. The couple reported that he is half English Bulldog/ half Boxer and while we see those traits in his ridiculous underbite, his wrinkles, wrinkles, and more wrinkles - oh, and his adorable stubby bulldog legs, he could be mix of many boxer or bully breeds. This short stack has been fostered with kids and other dogs and is great with both. He is more interested in people than other dogs and would be fine as an only dog but he does enjoy playing with dogs as well. Murphy wants lots of cuddle time and belly rubs, to ride shotgun on your adventures, and to share the same pillow at night (stage five clinger!). If you are looking for your very best friend, and you are willing to walk him daily and let him sit in your lap (because it’s gonna happen) he is your guy! Read on to learn more about applying to bring The Murph Man home today.

Murphy Meatball is spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and current on flea/tick and heartworm preventative. This dog has tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care. The adoption fee is $450 if your adoption is prepaid and final prior to your dog's arrival. An additional $50 will be charged on dogs that are picked up from our Southbury CT adoption center, adopted at an event, or foster home. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with CT HB 5368.

WANT TO MEET OUR DOGS IN PERSON? Check the Events tab on cprdogs.com for all weekend adoption event info. The majority of the dogs marked as 'meet me' will be there to see you!

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

More about this rescue

CPR was formed in 2004 to assist unwanted pups and dogs with finding a new home. We rescue our pups from high kill shelters in TN and MS. Without the dedication of the staff and volunteers of these shelters and without the assistance of CPR, the pups posted on our website would not be rescued.
We also assist families with unwanted litters of pups by placing the pups and spaying their mommy dog to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. When funds are available, we spay/neuter personally owned pets when asked for assistnce.
We rescue and rehome 200+ pups and dogs each month. We accomplish this task with the help of an awesome hard working and dedicated staff and volunteer base. Also helping us to accomplish what seems at times to be a thankless and overwhelming job is our pure and selfless love of dogs! We truly believe that rescue + rehoming = true love. <3
