My story

Friends, we know this probably doesn't come as a surprise, but we meet A LOT of dogs. And every once in a while, we get one that’s a superstar like our guy Fred. This meatball (he could lose a couple pounds) has exceeded all expectations since coming into rescue. Fred wasn't just riding the struggle bus when he came to us, he was driving it. His severely injured tail (that had to be docked, leaving the cutest little nub) and heartworm positive status indicated he hadn't been loved and cared for in a long time. Regardless of how uncomfortable he was, or tired of being poked, prodded, bandaged, or otherwise pestered, Fred was patient and agreeable. The more time we spend with this sweet lug, the more apparent it is that he’s pretty darn special.

Fast forward to today, Fred’s completed all the treatments and healing needed to be ready for his next chapter. He’s in foster with two other dogs and two cats and is doing fabulously. His foster mom absolutely adores him, and is constantly impressed with how well he listens and is picking up indoor dog life, something he’s likely never experienced. Crate and potty training were no challenge for this smart boy, and he’s been going to work with his foster mom at a pet shop and assuming the role of greeter. Butt wiggles and pittie smiles for all! His activity level is moderate, he enjoys a good romp but definitely leans on the couch hippo side of the spectrum. And did we mention the lovins’? This guy can’t get enough, and trust us when we tell you that snuggling that soft fat head of his is as close to heaven as it gets. Fred’s accumulated a not so small fan club along his rescue journey, and we’re all rooting for him to finally get the forever home he deserves. Is it with you? Read on to learn more about being Fred’s happily ever after.

Visit our website to see our weekend Events here! Pup’s with the designated “meet me” next to their names are in CT and ready to attend adoption events. Please check with your adoption coordinator if you are interested in a specific dog prior to coming to an event, as a dog's availability to attend can change at any time. We can not guarantee approval on site at the events, so we recommend applying ahead of time. You can apply at the event, but the application process may not be able to be completed the same day. If you are not pre-approved, you are still welcome to come and meet pups at the event!

The adoption fee is $500 which includes spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and the mandatory CT HB 5368 fee. This dog tested positive for heartworms and has been treated in our care.

If you are a MA resident, your new family member is required to go through a mandatory 48 hour quarantine period at our Woburn MA isolation facility. Your new family member will be dropped off by our transport on Thursday and will be ready for you to pick him/her up on Saturday between 11 am-1 pm. An additional $100 fee will be added for any dogs picked up from the Woburn MA quarantine facility. This additional fee is necessary in order to comply with MA Order 405-CD-12 and Order 1-AHO-05.

TO APPLY PLEASE GO TO www.cprdogs.com. If your application was successfully submitted you will get a confirmation. Please DO NOT USE the ADOPTAPET "CONTACT THIS RESCUE GROUP" form below or you may not hear from us as these often end up in spam or bouncing back.

After receipt of your application, an adoption counselor will then be in touch to answer your questions about this pup, discuss the adoption process and get the ball rolling! If you have not heard from one of our volunteers within 5 days of submitting your application, please email mollibo@gmail.com.

More about this rescue

CPR was formed in 2004 to assist unwanted pups and dogs with finding a new home. We rescue our pups from high kill shelters in TN and MS. Without the dedication of the staff and volunteers of these shelters and without the assistance of CPR, the pups posted on our website would not be rescued.
We also assist families with unwanted litters of pups by placing the pups and spaying their mommy dog to stop the cycle of unwanted puppies. When funds are available, we spay/neuter personally owned pets when asked for assistnce.
We rescue and rehome 200+ pups and dogs each month. We accomplish this task with the help of an awesome hard working and dedicated staff and volunteer base. Also helping us to accomplish what seems at times to be a thankless and overwhelming job is our pure and selfless love of dogs! We truly believe that rescue + rehoming = true love. <3
