My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Chico and I am an apx 3 year old Flat Coated Retriever/Border Collie mix. Sadly, I found myself at the Baldwin Park Shelter win my homeless owner gave me and my friend Oreo (who had been adopted). I am good with other dogs and an all around happy guy. I love to play with my favorite plastic ball too! I will even walk you sometimes

I forgot to mention that I absolutely love the water too! If you've ever wanted a water loving dog, I'm your guy!!!

Little did my rescue know when they saved me and Oreo, is that I have congential corneal dermoids that require expensive surgery by an eye specialist. My rescue mom took me in to find out what is needed and she is/has been working on raising funds for my much needed $4500 eye surgery before these corneal dermoids do even more damage to my inner eyes. The eye specialist not only needs to remove the dermoids, he also needs to reconstruct the inner eye. I'm just so grateful that Delaney's Dog mission is to help dogs who need help most and that they didn't turn their back on me and let my young life end at that scary, deadly Baldwin Park kill shelter where I saw so many dogs leave their overcrowded and dirty kennels to never return.  I was next in line to lose my life until my rescue hero mom came for me.

I am currently seeking a foster to adopt home while rescue continues efforts to raise money to help my poor eyes. It has been a long and rough battle for them trying to raise funds but they have promised that they will not give up on me.

If you can foster me, or donate to my surgery, we would be so grateful. I really want to be in a home again. Could you help me?

More about this rescue

We, at Delaney's Dog, are dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of dogs in danger whether it be from the city and county shelters, the streets, or from within the communities.

The dog's safety and well-being is our number one priority and concern. In an effort to ensure this premise we rescue, rehabilitate, caregive (provide rescues with a home environment via foster), and thoroughly screen adoption applicants for the proper placement of each rescued dog into the "right" furever home. We strongly believe that there is a right dog for every person and a "right" person for every dog.

Animals in our care are spayed or neutered, micro chipped, fully vaccinated and receive all appropriate/needed veterinary care and treatment. All rescued dogs are placed into nurturing, loving and screened foster homes while they await placement into their permanent homes.

We assist dogs in danger without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Our requirement is need, not breed.

This charity exists solely for the benefit of rescued dogs.
By members volunteering their efforts and fosters volunteering their home and love for rescue dogs, Delaney's Dog is able to keep administrative costs low, and in turn be able to give more to dogs in need.

Fosters are always urgently needed. Please email DelaneysDog@gmail.com for a foster application today! We and the pups appreciate it!
