My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Demeter is a brave girl with a strong will to find happiness. Originally found abandoned in the woods, Demeter's journey has been one of survival and strength. Despite her rough start, she has blossomed into a loving and loyal companion, ready for a new chapter of her life with a loving family by her side.

This sweet pup is already housebroken and crate trained. While she has experience living with another dog, Demeter can be selective about her furry friends and might thrive best as the only canine companion in her forever home. She adores going on walks and eagerly exploring the world around her with curiosity and enthusiasm. But her favorite pastime? Playing with toys, of course! And let's not forget her ultimate weakness: peanut butter! This delightful snack never fails to bring a smile to Demeter's face, making it the perfect reward for her good behavior or simply a tasty treat to enjoy.

If you're ready to open your heart and home to a furry friend who will fill your life with love and laughter, look no further than Demeter! Meet her today at HSHC!

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
