My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

-Written by Malik, a 5-month-old, 67lb male Great Pyrenees.
---------------------------------------------

Some of you may remember me as one of five puppies that were in a small mud/concrete pen. I have to say that I came quite far since then. My life used to be the same old same old...day in and day out. I never got out or got to experience anything new. Whatever I did...I did with my siblings. Wherever I went they went. Since it was dangerous for us to roam freely, we often ended up in that pen altogether. Our owners tried rehoming us, but for whatever reason weren't having any luck in finding a place for us. They ended up reaching out to this rescue and thanks to some amazing foster families stepping up...all five of us started a totally new life.

I was TERRIFIED when I first got to my foster home. I had never been in the house before...heck, I had never been outside the yard I was born in before coming to the rescue. As the days went by, I started to realize what it feels like to be part of a family. I figured out the doggie door and I love being inside almost as much as I love being outdoors now! I have started playing with the other dogs, but am not a huge player. I have discovered what toys are and enjoy playing with them. I have not been on any walks and am still not a fan of the leash. So, my new family will need to be prepared to work with me on that. I have never been hiking either, but I do believe in time it would be a really fun pass time with my new family.

Cars are still new to me and I need help getting in. Once in, I lay down and stay there. I am potty trained but have no experience being kenneled. When my foster family is away, I stay in the laundry room with a doggie door and do well. I have not been a big chewer, but I am also still young. My new family should have things puppy-proofed until they know how I do with them. I am not a big barker and tend to only bark when the other dogs are barking.

I am timid when it comes to meeting new people, so it would be wonderful if my new family were able to continue socializing me. I am also very unsure and scared in new environments, so hopefully, my new family will also slowly help me build confidence in new places as well. I do well when it comes to meeting new dogs but am a little unsure at first. I am good with cats, other dogs, and kids. I will lightly play with the other dogs but don't seem to be dependent on them. If my owner were home most of the day, I do feel like I would be fine as an only dog.

FROM HIS FOSTER MOM 🐾 ↓

~Malik is a smart loving pup who loves other dogs and all kids. He is eager to love, explore, and learn but is on the calmer side. He enjoys playing with toys and playing with other dogs like his brother and the bigger dogs. He enjoys all ages of kids and respects older smaller dogs and doesn’t bother them. We have a busy home and he fits it but will sometimes put himself to bed if it’s too much. He loves outside but loves his doggy bed and cuddles. He is a fluffy polar bear and looks at you with his sweet eyes and loves knowing he’s safe. He knows shake and how to sit. He doesn’t mind his collar and is learning how to walk on a leash.

He would probably love a home with kids and lots of movie-time couch cuddles.~
