Due to factors beyond our control, transport costs for our Puppy Mill survivors are much higher than what we have been accustomed to - costs for health certificates and medical + transport for each dog with no allowances for shared crates. With these factors taken into account, as well as the care needs for all of the animals in our adoption program, we need to request a donation above our normal request. Depending which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a donation in the range of $450- $850 from each adopter. $250 of that donation will be used toward the cost of transport. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.

Name: Ophelia

Personality: After spending her whole life in a cage, used over and over for breeding, she is looking for a loving home who will teach her that the world is a good place. Despite all this, she is so loving and her sweet personality is starting to shine. She enjoys being in people and dogs' company and receiving pets and snuggles! She's super curious and loves discovering new things. She is very laid back and calm. She recently discovered toys and loves them, especially squeaky ones!
Home recommendation: Ophelia is looking for a home that will work on building her confidence and give her the time she needs to come out of her shell. She is such a wonderful, deserving dog who is ready to shine! She just needs some extra love and patience. She must go home with another dog to help show her the ropes!
Kids: 13+ As she would do best in a low activity household.
Dogs: Yes! Ophelia loves other dogs and is currently being fostered with one who she adores. She enjoys taking naps with them and following them around the house. She would thrive having another dog in her future home.
Cats: Ophelia would be fine in a home with cats
Crate Trained: She does not currently use a crate
House Trained: Working on it!
Leash Manners: Ophelia has never been walked on a leash and is still learning.
Training: Ophelia had little socialization before coming to WISE due to her past life. She needs a patient, understanding family who will work on her training and socialization. She enjoys treats and this is the best way to gain her trust
Why did she come to WISE? Ophelia was rescued from a horrible puppy mill situation where she was used for breeding most of her life. When she was determined "unfit" to be used in their 'breeding program', they were going to euthanize her. WISE wasn't going to let that happen and saved this sweet gal!
