My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone, my name is Benny Boy. I am a delightful and heavenly little man who is looking for someone to give me my place in the world. Here is a little info about me:
Breed: Corgi mix
Age: 2 yrs
Gender: male
Weight: 40 pounds
Height: 20 inches high
Highlight(s): playful, clever, super sweet and loving

I was found as a stray when I was  only a month old. My rescuer in Israel heard a puppy crying and discovered me hiding under a tree. I was so alone and scared and very hungry.  It is not known what happened to my mother and siblings but it is likely I was the only survivor. I was taken to a shelter where I stayed for the next year and a half until I was able to come to Canada.

I am currently living in a foster home with six other dogs and I get along great with all of them. I would love to share my new home with another dog or two but am also happy to be the only dog. I love going for walks and playing with my people. But I am also very good at chilling out at home. If you decide to meet me (and you would be very smart to do so) I will impress you with how cute and sweet I am. I can be a bit slow to warm up to some people but it's always easy when I am approached by someone with a calm, gentle manner.

One of my favourite things is to eat. This makes me easy to train as I will do anything for a liver treat. In fact my current foster has taught me not to bark when I am startled or hear unusual noises. I have never shown any protection around food or toys. At home, I am the sweetest, snuggliest boy. I love to curl up next to my humans, to nap and get lots of pets and belly rubs. I like to chew but don't worry, I know which toys are mine and only chew them. I'm also a good guard dog and will alert you when someone is outside. It is no problem for me to stay home alone for a few hours as I am quiet and have no separation anxiety.  A home with a fenced yard will be best for me as I have a bit of bladder control problem which is being treated with medication.

Energy Level: moderate

I get along with:
Dogs: yes!
Cats: unknown
Kids: unknown

Training: a bit of leash training
Leash skills: some
House trained: Not yet. Please be prepared to help me learn!

I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is by donation.

Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.

Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

More about this rescue

Loved At Last Dog Rescue operates in the Greater Vancouver area. We rescue and rehome local dogs as well as homeless dogs from numerous countries around the world, including Mexico, Korea, China, Iran, Kuwait, Bahrain and India. Many of these dogs have experienced hardship and cruelty yet they are gentle and loving. We have found that dogs who have experienced suffering appreciate every kindness shown them. All our dogs are fully vaccinated, microchipped and those over 6 months are spayed or neutered.
