My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey there, I'm Aubrey, the stunning 30-pound, 1-year-old female Plott Hound mix with a heart as beautiful as I am! I had a tough beginning, I was surrendered to an overcrowded kill shelter in Texas when I was just 4 months old because my owner had too many dogs. I was very, very scared, but thankfully Project Hope saw the pleading in my eyes and they saved me!

I’m going to be honest with you here - I am a total sweetheart once I warm up to you, but I am just terrible at meet and greets! I don’t know what happens, I just get so nervous that I start acting all shy, and a lot of my amazing personality just flies right out the window. I really need an understanding family that knows it might take a few days for the true me to shine through. Then I’ll be on you like white on rice, I want nothing more than to be with my person. I love other doggos, but I haven’t had the pleasure of making any feline friends yet. I would probably do best in an adults-only household.

I'm a spunky girl who loves nothing more than running and playing, so I'd thrive in a home with a fenced yard where I can stretch my legs. But hey, even if you don't have a yard, as long as we can go for walks and play together, I'll be one happy pup! After all that fun, I'm all about snuggling up with my favorite person for a nap. I'm potty and crate-trained, spayed, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccines, so I'm ready to bring love and laughter to my forever home.

My adoption fee is $300, and if you have any questions, just shoot an email to projecthoperescue@gmail.com. Ready to make my dreams of a furever home come true? You can fill out an adoption application by visiting our website at www.projecthoperescue.org. Let's start making memories together!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require that the interested adopter come to meet the dog and then fill out an adoption application. We will review the application and then pass on to the dog's foster family (if applicable). We then contact the potential adopter's vet and we will also do a home visit. If all goes well, the adopter signs our adoption contract stating that, among other things, the dog will receive regular vet care and must be returned to us if things do not work out.

More about this rescue

We focus primarily on rescuing senior and special needs dogs in kill facilities. We are located on 30 acres of land in rural southern Michigan. We are a care-for-life facility, so any dog that does not or that we deem cannot be adopted will live with us for the rest of his/her life. Because we rescue the dogs that are not in high demand, it normally takes our dogs longer to find that perfect family. We believe that it takes a special family to adopt our special dogs.
