My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

In mid-March, two friendly female dogs strayed onto a property adjacent to a very busy highway in Clinton. They were given water and observed, as the family hoped they’d return to their home. They did not, but rather they moved onto the covered front porch and eventually, into the house (smart pups…).

Since then, this kind family has been doing its best to care for the dogs and keep them safe, despite already having a large family and other dogs to care for. But they are seriously overextended and reached out to the Anderson County Animal Rescue Foundation (AC ARF) for help. And this is when AC ARF stepped in.

The good news is…both dogs were microchipped! We love microchips! AC ARF had the dogs scanned and able to track them to learn a little of their history and their story!

Chun, a Golden/Labrador Retriever mix, and Howee, a stunning black/white Am Staff/Pit Bull mix, were previously owned by an Asian Couple who loved them dearly. The Asian name Chun represents spring, joyful, love and life and Howee denotes loved one or honey. Appropriate names for these sweethearts who were clearly bonded. Unfortunate circumstances forced their owners to surrender their precious pups to the Young Williams shelter for rehoming.

These well-mannered, easy going dogs were quickly rehomed together in November. Then another ill-fated circumstance came about for these dogs when their new owner experienced a serious health issue and arranged for the dogs to be cared for. Sadly, this did not happen, and the two wandered and became lost until they found our Good Samaritan family (smart pups…).

AC ARF has now determined their former owner cannot take the dogs back and is looking to find a permanent home or a foster-to-adopt for these dogs. They are so bonded, the preference is to rehome them together, as it would be heartbreaking to break them apart after all they have been through together. These dogs are both love bugs, gentle and friendly. They love the children, and are dog friendly. Medium sized dogs, Howee weighs 40 lbs, and Chun 50 lbs. They are spayed and fully up to date on vaccinations and preventatives.

Here is what our Good Samaritan family has told us about these girlies. "They are undemanding and well behaved. They are house- and crate-trained. They do not wander from their current home when they go outside to go potty. They walk well on a leash and understand and respond to most basic commands – sit, stay, drop it, down, stop, shake, outside and potty. And treat…they love to hear that word! Two year-old Chun loves playing…and balls. True to her retriever breed, she insists on taking a toy out with her to go potty and carries it around until she is done, and she is always ready for a game of fetch. Four-year old Howee and is an easy-going love bug typical of a Staffy Terrier mix. She likes to sleep, eat or cuddle."

In short, these pups are perfect! And did we mention smart? AC ARF’s mission is to help keep dogs safe, happy, healthy and in a home. Please consider adopting or fostering these well behaved, low maintenance dogs so they can get back to living the life they deserve in a loving, permanent home.
