Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We request that potential adopters think seriously about their housing for the future. The lack of pet-friendly housing is one of the primary reasons why animals are surrendered to this Shelter. Other than that, the adoption process is simple and straightforward. We have an application which can be filled out on our website.

The adoption fee for a dog is $110, for a cat $95. We pay for the spay/neuter of the animal (if it is not already done). If the adopter lives within Teton County, the animal will also be licensed before leaving the Shelter ($10 for fixed animals).

More about this shelter

The Jackson/Teton County Animal Shelter provides humane care to, and provides homes for, lost and abandoned companion animals. Jointly funded by the Town and County for basic operations, it utilizes donations for the spay/neuter and special veterinary treatment that may be required by these shelter animals. Basic operations include the enforcement of animal control regulations, lost and found pets, licensing, surrenders & adoptions, and the loan of equipment (live traps etc.). The Shelter is also tasked with educating the public on responsible animal care and ownership. While called a 'shelter', it goes above and beyond just sheltering animals. Programs are in place to enrich the lives of these animals; volunteers walk and train dogs daily, and socialize with cats. Please feel free to contact us with any questions regarding services provided and general policies.
