Kai's story is somewhat of a sad one. It's the kind of story that often leaves us scratching our heads, but we don't have time to dwell on what went wrong with Kai's situation. We focus on finding her a better one. We know that there is someone out there who won't think twice about giving this wonderful girl everything she needs.
Kai is about 10 years old, she requires blood pressure medication and special food for her kidneys. And, she is blind. Kai is a great lap cat, great with other cats, and even plays with some toys. Her vision problem doesn't seem to bother her at all. All she needs is a home where there's easy access to her food, water, and litterboxes. She hasn't been with dogs in her foster home, so we don't know how she is with them. It should be noted that most people with cats and dogs keep the cat items somewhere that the dog can't get to them. It is important that Kai have easy access to those things so it may not work out to put her in a home with dogs, but we would certainly be willing to discuss it with a potential family to see if it could work.
Kai's blood pressure medication, Amoldipine, is about $12 for 60 days. Her prescription kidney food, of course, can be pricey, but we know Kai is worth it. This poor girl, who was given up by her owners when her age started catching up with her, deserves to be given everything she needs. If you'd like to meet Kai, or just have some questions about her, please let us know. We'd love to talk to you about her. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Please visit our website at sheltertohome.com for information on our adoption process.**
