My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Duke- Senior Pittie!

Duke was pulled from a shelter in Los Angeles. He was the longest living resident of the shelter and had quite a few people networking him. We were able to find a foster and so we saved him from euthanasia on the last day he had to live. Duke is a super sweet dude, and since he is originally from Sothern California, he has not lost that chill vibe.

Duke is an 8 year old Staffordshire terrier mix. He loves nothing more than to spend time and be petted by pretty much anyone. With his mellow personalitym he doesn't require much exercise, but he does currently walk the block four times a day with an occasional break in a grassy shady spot. He LOVES people so much, he tries to hang back on our walks if he sees someone familiar or new so he can say hello.

Duke is crate trained. He sleeps thru the night and is quiet but will let you know if he needs to go outside. He's a mellow coach potato and would love to watch movies with you. Duke loves car rides and the occasional pup cup from your favorite coffee drive thru. He may also do fine with respectful kids.

Duke is on medication for arthritis, but otherwise no health issues. He is living with quite a few dogs, but is not interacting with them. We would prefer he be the only dog, so he can be showered with undivided love and attention for his golden years.

Additional adoption info

Our multi-step adoption process includes an application, meet and greet, animal introductions when applicable, and a home check. We highly value the time and effort put into adoption applications, and encourage thorough, thoughtful responses as this is our primary avenue for getting to know your family. With that in mind, please be aware that applications with excessive blank or one-word responses may not be considered.

Animal introductions will be done for each pet currently living in the household. While we are not here to judge your lifestyles, we also conduct home checks to ensure that the household and backyard will be a safe living environment for a SacRDR dog. The Declaration page of your Homeowners Insurance policy or an approval letter from your landlord must be submitted with your adoption application; these documents are required to ensure that your HOI or landlord covers/accepts the breed you are applying to adopt.

If you have any additional questions, please email adopt@sacrdr.org.
