My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

-Written by Hurricane, a 9-month-old Great Pyrenees/Aussie mix.
---------------------------------------------

I have always been the more playful and adventurous pup from my litter. I love to play, explore, and just have fun. I wasn't always so carefree. It was only a few months ago that my owners decided that they no longer wanted my siblings and me. They threw us all in a cardboard box and actually taped it up. They then drove us to the dumpster and dumped us there and drove off. Can you imagine what it would feel like to be trapped in a dark small space? Can you imagine what it feels like to be crammed in that small space with 9 other warm bodies out in the heat? Can you imagine being so hungry that you tried sucking on any extension of a sibling you could find? Being so hungry and crazed that you thought those extensions might be a nipple and give you the food you so desperately wanted?

By the time someone had found us, my siblings and I all had missing patches of fur and were found covered in pee and very hot. We were brought to the shelter and from there they reached out for rescue help. Thanks to our amazing foster mom for stepping up for all 10 of us, this rescue was able to take us in. Due to my siblings and I sucking so hard on one another and for so long, we had some pretty bad tissue damage to those places. In the beginning, the vet was worried those places may turn necrotic and we would face amputation. Thankfully, it would seem that all my fur has grown back so that is awesome news!

That was how I came to PPFT at only six weeks old, along with my siblings. We were the "Cocktail Litter". Starved, missing patches of fur, and enduring something no puppy should ever go through. As I am sure you can tell, I am no longer a tiny puppy. I am now a long-legged cutie that may or may not be in his awkward teenage stage. I believe humans call this puberty? I had been adopted and I was so excited. Things were good for a little while, but then some things happened out of my owner's control. We ended up in an apartment and I spent a lot of time kenneled which wasn't good for me at all...especially being a more active dog. My owner ended up surrendering me back to PPFT so I don't have to be cooped up all the time.

The change was hard on me at first, but I am starting to learn how to be a dog again. I love that I get to run around like crazy again, romp around with the other dogs, and just be my playful self. I love to live life to the fullest. I love to explore and am always up for an adventure. I would love to be part of my family's activities. Take me on walks with you. Take me on hikes. Take me on road trips. Take me to the lake with you. Take me to the kid's sports games. Take me to public outings. Just please don't leave me home all alone in a kennel. I cannot handle that. I want to live!

I am potty trained, and while I am kennel trained I would really prefer that I don't be kenneled for long hours again. I do well being enclosed to the sunroom with the other dogs when my foster family is away, so maybe my new family can do something like that with me when they leave. I have not been a destructive chewer in my foster home, however, I do need lots of stimulation and exercise. I am not the kind of dog to take on one little dog and be done. I need doggie playmates and/or a very active family that is home a lot. I like playing with toys and am thinking that I may be a water dog. Can't say for sure quite yet though.

Once I have worn myself I will happily settle down and relax with everyone else. I am a sweet and loving boy but am also not super pushy for attention.

That is all I have to share about myself. I really hope that we are a match. The app to adopt me can be found at https://www.emailmeform.com/builder/form/hx000BP7nbQvjHX49Uur80FV3

Please I am begging you though, only apply to adopt me if you can keep me forever. If you can't keep me through ALL of my life's changes, don't be the one that makes me have to be passed around a few months/years down the line. That just isn't fair to me.

I would NEVER give up on you, so please don't give up on me. I want to be your forever...not your until dog.

FROM HIS FOSTER MOM 🐾 ↓

~Hurricane is an active big puppy. He needs a yard and another dog to run off his energy. But he settles down . Need someone to take on walks or hikes? Hurricane is your guy! He is not one to be crated all day. Hurricane is enjoying my big yard to explore. Squirrels to hunt. Other big dogs and puppies here. He's been here just over a week so is still figuring out routines. Hurricane is one big sweetie who loves everyone.

Hurricane's ideal home would be one with another playful dog and a family that is on the more active side. ~
