My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Coco is a sweet Shih Tzu Mix boy weighing 25 pounds. He is 9 years old and is being fostered in Dunedin, FL.
Dogs being fostered in Florida must be adopted within the State of Florida.

Updated bio 4/13/23: Coco had a successful visit to the Dogter! His blood work is good for his age, he is Heartworm negative and, aside from needing a good dental is in quite good shape. He needs to lose 4 lbs to start and his ideal weight is 17 lbs. He currently weighs in at a chunky 24 1/2 lbs. Foster Mom continues to diligently watch his diet. He will be getting his dental in about 2 weeks and may lose a few teeth, but probably not all of them.

He does have dry eye in both eyes, severe in his right eye, so he is getting prescription eye drops twice a day which he will need for the rest of his life. He doesn't seem to mind the drops at all.

Coco is a very quiet dog, walks well on the leash, but likes to stop and sniff every blade of grass! He will paw you a little to try and get you to bring him onto the sofa so he can snuggle with you. His foster mom is obliging as we know he misses his Mommy very much. He is a sleeper extraordinaire and will happily sleep in the morning until you get him up!

He gets along very well with other dogs. While he will not initiate playtime, if the other dog wants to play, he will try and oblige.

Coco is a very sweet boy, will be a very good companion dog, and is hoping to find his Furever home with someone who will give him the love and companionship he so deserves.

Will that be you?

Initial Bio 4/6/23: Coco was surrendered by his owner who could no longer care for him. He brought him to the vet to be euthanized and, due to his good health, the vet would not comply. A kind vet tech took him home until he could be fostered by a rescue and United Yorkie Rescue was able to take him!

For now we know that he is housebroken, neutered, microchipped, in good health, is good with kids, other dogs and people. He rides well in the car and will stay in a crate if needed. We don't know about cats yet.

He will be seeing the Dogter soon for a Bordatella shot and to have his dry eye checked and get prescription drops, which he may need indefinitely. He is overweight so his foster Mom is working on taking off those extra pounds.

He seems like he will be a good companion dog and the vet tech said his "dream job" is hanging out on the sofa with his person!

Could you be that person for Coco?
