My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

From Einstein's foster mama: His name is Einstein, and is about 10 years old. He was born and grew up on a lovely lady’s porch who cared for a colony of kitties. One day he was attacked by a dog and the wounds and damage affected his right paws and gait, so living on the street wasn’t safe anymore. I took him in while he healed, when he was very wary and withdrawn. As time passed he discovered his catitude and went through the hissy, then swatty,/bitey, then enjoying pets, headbonking, then coming out with his tail up. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect lap time (which has been achieved!!).

The best home for him would be cat savvy, extremely patient, probably and hopefully involved in rescue or fostering. It’s important he remains strictly indoors, and needs to make sure he doesn’t dart out ((which he used to to when porch mum took him in). He may regress in a new space, but with patience, time and understanding, he will likely remember people are actually nice based on his time here and his porch mum. He’s reacted well with another foster kitty in the next room and acclimation with our residents is purposely slow,so proper long acclimation is vital. Preferably a chill home, no dogs, and others who understand he needs gentleness and patience. Still reactive to sudden movements and sounds and strangers. As a shy guy, he still has his hidey spot, but comes out more and is trainable. Great with litter and is very clean.

More about this rescue

Step Up to Save Animal Network is a volunteer run, foster based organization. SUSAN’s animals live in foster homes as valued family members. Our foster parents are able to offer a unique perspective on the available pets’ likes and dislikes, as well as any personality quirks – this information is invaluable to the matchmaking process. SUSAN wants every placement we make to be a lifelong match and as such we have high adoption standards and ask all adopters to agree to ALWAYS contact us FIRST if the circumstances of life ever divide you from your new family member. Interested adopters start by completing an application and a SUSAN representative will reach out ASAP to begin the interview process!
