My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Chapo and I am 2 years old.

Luckily, I was saved from the shelter by Martina Animal Rescue and am currently in boarding while I wait for a family of my very own.

I like to be with you all the time and am incredibly responsive to my person. I'm is a bundle of energy and love to chase and chew balls. My sit and recall are well on their way. I don't care for being left alone and will bark or whine for your return — we are working on reducing my separation anxiety, but I would love to be part of a pack or with a consistent companion. I'm also a bit scared of being put in a car or crate, though I won't resist when calmly picked up and put inside and can often times be encouraged to go in with a ball or a treat. I am very responsive to leash communication and will likely do well with more leash training. With obedience generally, I aim to please and do well when I have sufficient energetic outlets.

I was neutered on 5/4 and I seem to be mellowing some. I'm a very cuddly boy and will likely be a great lap dog when I have a home of my own. I am a confident boy and seem to do well around other dogs. I have been interested in the farm animals I've seen, but I come away from them easily when asked. Not sure how I am with cats or whether I'm house broken.

If you’d like to meet me please contact Martina Animal Rescue at martinaanimalrescue@yahoo.com or text Laura at 916-996-5777. I'm located in Northern CA

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit rescue organization who helps rescue dogs and sometimes other animals from Contra Costa Animal Services as well as other local shelters; usually the scared, overlooked or often the ones off the euthanasia list. We also rescue dogs who have been injured or abandoned trying to keep them from having to go into the shelter after looking for an owner. We then place them in foster homes to decompress and learn to be part of a family as well as learn structure and boundaries. If needed and we can, we also have trainers that help prepare our dogs for adoption.
