My story

Mr. Fredricksen is ready to be your new work from home buddy! He loves sitting in your lap and being near you while you work, especially if you give him belly rubs. He loves to nap on the couch and in the sun. He’s gone on pack walks in the past, but would rather enjoy his walk without being interrupted by other dogs. He enjoys playing tug, rolling in the grass, and chasing after squeaky balls. With recall training, he’s good off leash.

He learns very quickly, and is highly motivated by shredded cheese and chicken. He can be possessive of bully sticks, but will only growl and bop you with his nose, and will chill out if you shower him with cheese. He likes to be near his humans all the time, and will excitedly follow you from room to room. He has separation anxiety, but has been rapidly improving. He’s an excellent nap cuddle buddy!

Why adoption is a great option

Mr. Fredricksen, a Oakland Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Oakland, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Oakland.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Oakland already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Oakland breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Oakland paves the way for another one to be saved.
