Meet Lando
*****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements*****
The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois. This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home. Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered. The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics. We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats.
LANDO
This handsome dog is nothing short of amazing. He’s a tall, athletic mix of Dutch Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. His coloring is spectacular and when I walk him around Heidi’s Village the first thing anyone says is “wow- he is gorgeous!” He knows “sit” and “down” and loves to walk, run and hike. Lando will need a family who loves to play and knows this breed. He does resource guard his food so we suggest a family with older kids who will understand you don’t try to take his food away from him. This behavior most likely came from being abandoned and protecting his food prior to being brought to a shelter. We are not sure how he would do with other dogs or cats. Lando is smart, curious, athletic, but also loves to have face massages. Best to be with older kids. If you would love to meet this awesome dog, please fill out a foster or adoption application.
