My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Allow me to introduce you to the lively Wild Thang!

Wild Thang is a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix weighing 56 pounds. True to his name, he is a bundle of energy always eager to engage in playtime. This lovable boy is one of the sweetest companions you'll ever encounter, constantly entertaining with his antics. Whether he's tossing his toys in the air for solo play or zooming around to release his energy, he's sure to bring laughter to your days. After enjoying ample playtime, Wild Thang transforms into a cuddly snuggle bug, readily offering kisses and seeking affection by curling up on your lap. With a gradual introduction, he shows potential for living with another dog, provided they are a compatible match. Due to his affectionate nature, he also has the potential to live with children over the age of 10 years old.

Don't miss the chance to watch Wild Thang, the smarty pants, in action! Check out his impressive video showcasing his perfect sits for the camera. It's a delightful display of his intelligence and eagerness to please.

If you're seeking a dog to add some excitement to your life, please don't hesitate to contact us at 330-487-0333 ext. 226. We'll provide you with more information about Wild Thang and gladly arrange a meeting so you can get acquainted with him in person!

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
