My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FROM DAKOTA HIMSELF: "My name is Dakota. I was picked up as a stray in March of '23 along with my buddy. We were chasing chickens and having a wonderful time! No one claimed us and we ended up doing time here in the big house. But soon, in May of '23, I was adopted! Sadly, I was brought back 1 year later because like many Malamutes, I'd escape to go on adventures and dug holes. Yep...us sled dogs dig holes to lay in and to escape boredom. Its deep in our DNA. So... my new home will need to understand me and my breed instincts, to keep me safely at home. AND they need to enjoy brushing me, to keep me looking handsome! But its not all about looks. Let's talk personality! I'm a really friendly boy! I get along with everyone I meet...old and young alike! I also like to play with other nice dogs. I LOVE going on walks and do pretty well on a leash; a training collar or a quality no-pull harness helps a lot. My perfect home will have a fenced yard, because I need room to run and play. Also, it needs to be secure, dig-proof and tall. I'm not sure how I do with cats, because Malamutes have a strong prey drive and aren't always a good match for small animals that run from us, like cats and, um... chickens.
But the really good news is that I am friendly, VERY LOVING, loyal and playful..perfect for an active family. AND, I like to talk. All in all, I've never really had a bad day! I'm just a happy go-lucky dude, so if you are looking for a great conversationalist who is great with the littles and fun to be with, I'm your man!"
