My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Mr Simcha! Simcha came to us from a shelter in NC after being dumped with his sister. He is 9 years young and still has LOTS of energy. Simcha is a Malinois GSD mix and all the fun that comes along with that. He can be a bit shy at first but once he trusts you, which is pretty quickly, he and his ball will forever be your shadow. He is an absolute sweetheart and was a shelter favorite. He walks beautifully on a leash and is completely non-reactive to things. He is housebroken and crate trained but can be trusted with free roam. Simcha is dog and cat friendly, but isn’t super playful so would be perfectly happy as an only dog. In fact he would probably prefer it. He gets along ok with the male GSD in the house and plays with the females that have come and gone. Females are definitely best. All he really cares about are his people and his ball. Did I mention he loves his ball? He’s extremely agile but like a bull in a china shop going after his ball. He does not like popping sounds like gunshots or fireworks so country life may not be best for him.
He loves to play but settles well. If he’s not tired, you’ll know because he will be dropping his ball at your feet to remind you. He also very much feeds off the energy of the dogs around him. If he’s with a high energy dog, he’s high energy. If he’s with a low energy dog, he’s more likely to chill out. He is also great off leash and has perfect recall.
Simcha needs a fenced in yard to have his own secure area. His aim when playing with toys isn’t always great so small kids are a no go. Teenagers and up are preferable. Overall he’s a very transparent dog who just wants to play fetch and get attention in his golden years, of which there are plenty left. Simcha takes being a guard dog very seriously so will need someone with working dog or Malinois experience. Simcha is being fostered in Newport News, VA.
