My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.

Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be about an hour of Wilmington, DE in order for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in person home visit.

Meet Cody!

Cody is an 8-10-year-old, 9 lb miniature poodle mix who is looking for his forever home. He was found as a stray in terrible condition and brought to the SPCA.

Cody has received all of his vaccinations, had a senior bloodwork panel, a dental, and a heart workup. He does have an “old man” leaky heart valve, but it is well controlled with medication. The cost for this is less than ten dollars a month. Cody had some initial GI issues but has transitioned off of prescription food to Purina Sensitive Stomach kibble and is doing well. He’s potty trained, loves his leash walks, and sleeps in a crate at night in his foster’s bedroom. He will sometimes bark to alert people to things, but it is very manageable.

Cody is not a “lap dog” but enjoys lounging on the floor by his people when he wants pets and scratches. He isn’t a dog that wants to get smothered with hugs and kisses, but he loves his people. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and prefers to spend a lot of his day lounging on comfortable dog beds.

This little pup has been through a lot and deserves the best life has to offer. Could it be with you?
