My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zack
*****Belgian Malinois Adoption requirements*****

The dog you have selected is a Belgian Malinois. This is a breed that has very specific needs for an adoptive home. Because of their need for a high level of exercise, both mentally and physically and their need for ongoing training, only applicants with demonstrated owner/handler experience with this breed will be considered. The vast majority of them are not best suited as family pets, but in homes with experienced handlers knowledgeable of their needs and breed characteristics. We will not place in homes with small children or small dogs/cats.

?? Zack needs a hero ??

If you remember, Zack came to us several months ago with his sister Zoe (who has since been adopted ?), they were trapped by HARTT with several other dogs, all in rough shape. Zack is just under a year and has had a really hard start to life, whether he was neglected, abused or both, we will never know, but it has led him to be very fearful of humans.

As you can imagine, shelter life is very hard for dogs like Zack. Zack struggles with fear aggression, a lot of which stems from barrier aggression in his kennel, as his way of telling people to give him space. But underneath that tough exterior, he is just extremely scared. It takes a lot of time and patience for him to warm up to people and become less defensive. Outside of his kennel he is very avoidant of people more than anything. He has made an immense amount of progress, he will walk on a leash now, and trusts a few volunteers with handling and petting him. But nothing will ever be able to help him as much as being in a home. Zack THRIVES with other dogs. He truly turns into a completely different dog when he is playing with another dog. We are looking for a committed, experienced and patient foster home for Zack, with another young, playful confident dog to help him learn about the good in humans. Zack may never be the type of dog to come up for pets and cuddles, but sometimes the magic of a loving home and family can make the world of a difference. Please consider helping Zack ?

If you can give Zack an indoor forever home, please fill out our online application on our website at http://www.savingpawsrescueaz.org/adoption-form/

We will only schedule meet and greets with an approved application. We are an all-volunteer organization. It may take a couple of days to process an application and complete reference checks.

Thank you for your interest in saving a life!

Go meet their pets

We are a primarily foster based rescue, so all dogs are shown by appointment only with approved adopters. We participate in a number of adoption events per year. Our events are published on our FACEBOOK page.
https://www.facebook.com/SavingPawsRescue/

We are a 100% volunteer organization so we ask for patience in returning calls, emails and FB messages. Many work to juggle family, work and dogs of their own in addition to saving the lives of dogs in need. We are a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois rescue. We do occasionally have another breed. We rely 100% on public donation for our operations. We welcome adopters - fosters- volunteers and donors to join us in saving lives
