Meet Gemma, the 1 year old McNabb Herding dog mix. She loves other dogs, playing outside, and giving kisses. She has boundless energy, and would benefit from a home with another dog to play with. She would love to accompany her new family on hikes, camping trips, and even short walks around the neighborhood. Gemma has found herself back at the shelter after briefly finding herself in a home. See if Gemma is a good fit for your family by taking her on a slumber party! Bring your furry family member in to meet Gemma today.

HSSM is home to over 300 pets on any given day, most of which are looking for new forever homes! Your new best friend could be waiting at HSSM right now. Our beautiful, 41,000 square foot facility is currently open to the public. HSSM is open for adoptions Tuesday – Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary to adopt, however, adoptions are first-come, first served. You must come to HSSM to complete your adoption and make sure you bring a photo ID, as it is required to complete adoption paperwork.
Our adoptable animals page is self-updating and displays ALL of HSSM’s adorable adoptable pets from “pocket pets” to birds and of course the hundreds of dogs and cats currently calling HSSM home! See one you like? Make sure you note your favorite’s name and animal ID number so that HSSM staff and volunteers can easily find him/her when you come in!
Adoptions are cut off every day about 30 minutes prior to closing and possibly earlier if volume is high. Weekends are busy and you may have to wait more than an hour (especially in the afternoons) so please be prepared.
