My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This good, sweet girl left her family for the bright lights of a working dog career, but alas, she really does belong with a family after all...or at least a special person. She is a people person dog all the way.

She was raised since puppyhood with her original family, who did a great job, but with a toddler, another dog, and a new baby on the way, they wanted Ashoka to have more attention than they could give her.

This is important because Ashoka really likes her people, likes affection, and likes attention. She is such a nice girl though that she is quite polite about it. On the outside, she is a big, beautiful specimen of an athletic and fit black lab, but on the inside...half marshmallow.

She arrived at our kennels about a month ago and was released from the training program after initial screening because she is slightly sensitve to new environments (and noises) which is detrimental to the training we do for search and rescue but that wouldn't stop her from enjoying an active family life or outdoor adventures with her special someone(s).

She loves to play and is a whizz at fetch, dropping the toy for you to throw again and again. She has a sweet, gentle nature, and is just an all around nice girl with a beautiful off switch! She has successfully been in play groups with other dogs and has not shown overt reactivity to other dogs, even while in a kennel environment.

This girl could be the perfect companion to any number of partners, she just needs to find you!
