My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jenga!

Jenga is an active but shy 7 year old cat. When admiring him from afar you will see just how playful this guy really is! Jenga is an independent type of guy who will play with his toys all day long. He goes from hiding under his blankets to popping up chasing his toys, rolling around on just having the best time! Due to his shy nature it does take Jenga time to warm up to people. The best way to be close with him is to offer play instead of pets. Once he gets to know you, there is an opportunity for you guys to be best friends! Jenga does have to go home with his best friend Mancala, who helps him be even more confident. If interested in Jenga and Mancala, give us a call to set up a time to meet him! 330-487-0333 EXT:226

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
