Toshi is a 3 year old pure breed Alaskan Malamute who is 3 years old. Toshi has a fantastic temperament. He is not at all dog aggressive, and when he goes to boarding, he mixes very well with other dogs. However, Toshi has not lived in a home with other dogs, so he may do best in an environment where he is the only dog. Malamutes are known for resource guarding/ food aggression, and since Toshi has never lived with another dog, he hasn’t had the opportunity to work that out. Also, Toshi does not do well with cats. Toshi is a graduate of Huntsville Obedience Training Club’s Manners 101 class, and he performs the basic commands of “Sit”, “Down”, “Stay”, and “Leave it”. He is bright and very intelligent and would respond very well to additional training that challenged him. At 3 years of age, his best years are ahead of him, and he would make a great addition to a family who understands the specific needs of his breed – Alaskan Malamute. He would make a great addition to a family who is willing to give him the love, exercise, and companionship that he needs, and who does not mind the excessive shedding that comes along with his breed. Toshi is obedient, mild mannered, housebroken, and not destructive. He walks very well on a leash and is accustomed to being walked twice a day. Toshi really enjoys attention from people, and he does not meet a stranger. He wants to meet everybody who wants to meet him! By virtue of his breed, Toshi has a lot of stamina. He needs and enjoys consistent exercise. He would enjoy extended walks, running free in an enclosed, safe area, and hiking. He also really enjoys a good belly rub.
