My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here’s your go to girl for a family lifestyle - whether your family is 1 or many. She’s staying with a foster family and blends seamlessly with their senior shepherd (she even keeps a spot open on her dog bed for him) and hangs out for all the teen activities - watching TV, gaming, riding to sports events, going to patio social hours, hitting the parks and going on long road trips. Yes to vacations and staying nicely in a hotel! She’s done it all. You can take her along just about anywhere. She’s house trained and crate trained but stays home alone easily. She’s non-destructive and polite. She’s healthy and comes with a full set of medical records from Classic Canines who have managed her wellness care while in foster. And she’s cute with a capital C. Reap the rewards of easier living with a dog that knows her way in life and is a great fit for people of all ages and most household types. Consider making Roxi your go to girl - use her ADOPT ME button to start an inquiry to her foster.

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
