My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is a COURTESY posting to help DUKE find a home. You will need to contact the organization , listed below, who has him.

Please contact The SPCA of Upstate New York at 518-798-3500, www.spcauny.org for an adoption application or additional information. DUKE is located at 588 Queensbury Avenue Queensbury, NY 12804.

We were unable to produce a foster home and take DUKE in to our rescue. We have met Duke and he is a sweet 8 ½ year old guy who has been with the SPCA for 6 years now. He does not deserve to be bounced from place to place and should go directly to a home.

He would do best in a home as an only dog as he needs your attention. He is not aggressive with dogs while walking on a leash if they are respectful. He likes to be brushed. He is Special needs. He is showing early signs of Degenerative Myelopathy and possibly arthritis. He is on thyroid medication (pills not shots) which are not overly expensive and easily given in food.

Can you give this boy a chance to retire and be in a home? He will return your love tenfold. He likes to be brushed and spend time outside.

As you know Pyrs shed, wander and bark. For his protection and to keep him at home you will need a fenced yard. It does not need to be a 6 foot fence …. He’s not a climber.

If you can’t take him in can you help be an angel and contribute towards his care? Donations can be sent to the SPCA in his name. Make sure to include a note or write “or DUKE” on your check.

We only courtesy post dogs who are in the states we cover in the Northeastern US.
