Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We are Hound crazy these days, and are thrilled to have Gio in our Rescue. Just one year old, this handsome Beagle had the bum luck to attract two lackluster owners who were ill-prepared to raise an active puppy. Many folks want a puppy, but not the work that goes into raising one.
Gio found himself in NYCACC with a suspicious broken leg, and was quickly rerouted to us for vet care and rehab. He has healed beautifully and is ready for his, "third time must be the charm" home.
Gio has an outstanding personality, and Beagle lovers will find this boy true to the Beagle breed standard. As a scent hound, Gio is nose driven and preoccupied with any interesting smells. While he derives a lot of mental stimulation from leisurely strolls, Gio also needs brisk, focused leash walks to perfect his "heel" command, and work off some of his energy. Adopters may wish to use the Halti, or Gentle Leader, to help refocus the training walk, and differentiate it from the sniffing stroll.
Gio can be a little stubborn on the obedience training front, but with patience he will come along nicely, and certainly would be able to achieve his Canine Good Citizenship certification. He has a wonderful, confident temperament, is extremely friendly, and behaves well in stressful situations like the vet or groomer. He has great presence, and moves through the human world in an easy manner.
Gio is a classic tri-color Beagle with random blue ticking on his legs. He weighs 30 pounds which is an ideal weight for him. He is house trained and crate trained, but adopters should expect to troubleshoot the occasional accident that will inevitably occur during his transition to a new home.
Gio is in optimal health, and has all routine health screenings. He will be neutered before adoption. He has been dewormed, and microchipped. If If you are interested in Gio, please write to Angelsfrgod@aol.com, or call/text Denise at cell: 860-908-9738 for an adoption application.
