Marvelous Mars is looking for his forever family, and wants his new people to know these 10 things about him:
1. I am a Boerboel and I am about 4 years old.
2. My life before rescue wasn’t the greatest. My previous owners abandoned me and my siblings at a rental property, and nobody came to feed us or give us water for weeks. Eventually, a neighbor called animal control, and we all went to the shelter. I thought we were finally safe, but because of our size, nobody wanted to adopt us and we found ourselves on the euthanasia list. Our story would have ended there had somebody not contacted the Bullpen, who said that we were welcome at the sanctuary!
3. Despite all that I’ve been through, I am a wonderful, loving boy that adores humans. I think I would do well in a home with children over 10, as long as they weren’t too loud or rambunctious and had some previous experience/training with big dogs.
4. I like other big dogs, and if my new family has pups that weigh more than 60lbs, I’m pretty confident that we would get along great!
5. I haven’t had any interaction with small or medium sized dogs since coming to the Bullpen, so I can’t say for sure if I could live with them. That said, I think its possible that I could co-habitate with a little dog, if we were given a slow and proper introduction.
6. I have no idea how I feel about cats, so a feline-friendly home may not be the best fit for me.
7. The words that best describe me are affectionate, mellow, and gentle. My #1 favorite thing to do is getting attention from humans, but I also enjoy sunbathing in the grass and taking naps.
8. I am housebroken and crate-trained, and I am learning how to walk politely on a leash. I know basic obedience and I’ve already mastered the dog door!
9. I am fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped.
10. I am heartworm positive, but I have started treatment, and will come with all the medicine needed to complete it at my new home.

Our dogs are available for adoption nationwide but preference is given to adopters willing to do an in-person meeting. Please understand that our dogs are not adopted on a first-come, first-served basis, but rather we strive for a "perfect placement" so we know that they will not be failed again.
