My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Max 25lb small frame sheltie will be amazing for an active family who has another extremely social dog or several other dogs and a fully fenced in yard.

Kid's 18+ in The home no daycare

At least 1 stay at parent who is looking to be a stay at home dog mom.

Ability to fast walk/run him at least 2 miles a day.

He needs a dedicated parent who wants him to be the baby and go do fun dog stuff.

He wants to be with his people.

He enjoys a daily walk and if He doesn't get one he will likely not eat.

He is a dog who will starve himself if not given stimulation.

He doesn't have any behavioral issues that are bad but if he doesn't get mental stimulation and physical exercise he will bark non-stop.

Foster is in Virginia Beach

These things are not up for negotiation for Max to find his home.

He came from a loving home of older people who thought they could handle a puppy he is not a lazy dog and needs to have a home which demonstrates an active outdoor lifestyle and wants to include the dog.

More about this rescue

Coastal is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Virginia. We are a foster home based animal Shelter dedicated to finding loving new homes for unwanted, stray, and abandoned Shelties, Collies, Old English Sheepdogs, doodles and other small dogs. We serve Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, the District of Columbia, eastern West Virginia, and south central Pennsylvania, and are staffed solely by volunteers. We also strive to educate the public about the characteristics of the herding breed and the rewards of giving a home to a rescued dog.

The majority of the Coastal dogs are turned in to us by their previous owners.
